Expected Project Results

  1. The project would contribute to the implementation of national and regional agricultural policies to enhance the growth of the agriculture sector, its competitiveness and ability to facilitate agro-exports to regional and international markets.

  2. The project would also facilitate joint studies amongst Partner Institutes and Government Agencies in the areas of agriculture trade agreements and policy-making. In doing so best practises and experience would be shared amongst Partner Institutes increasing inter-institutional networking and leading to capacity-building of negotiating competencies on Agriculture trade agreements within the ECOWAS sub-region.

  3. The project would also lead to the joint-development of curriculum on agriculture trade policy and training programmes to improve academic frameworks on policy issues in the sector. This would lead to an improved regional academic framework on agriculture policy and related trade agreements.

  4. Joint-study, training and dissemination workshops would also increase the mobility of postgraduate students and teaching staff amongst the Partner Universities in the region.

  5. Last but not the least the proposal aims to contribute the academic communities’ inputs in enhancing consistency in the coherence of EU policy development in areas such as environment and gender issues which contributes to the growth and development of the ECOWAS Agriculture sector.
